Voicing Cookie Monster in Turkish
In 2016, I had the incredible opportunity to bring the beloved Sesame Street character, Cookie Monster, to life for Apple’s iPhone 6s television commercial in Turkey. Indeed, this was a significant highlight in my career, allowing me to showcase my character voice acting skills to a wide audience.
How Selcuk Birdal Was Chosen
After I submitted demo recordings and went through a rigorous selection process, the authorities chose me for the role, and I was thrilled. Furthermore, it was a testament to my dedication to character voice acting.
The Impact of the Commercial
The commercial aired on national television channels, reached millions of viewers, and solidified Cookie Monster’s popularity in Turkey. They voiced this Apple iPhone 6s commercial in 14 different languages, showcasing the global appeal of Cookie Monster. Specifically, my Turkish voice over, ‘Kurabiye Canavarı’, can be heard at 7:00 in the video above.

This project highlighted my passion and ability to bring characters to life. Additionally, I strive to capture the essence of each character and deliver performances that connect with audiences. Despite being off-air for many years, Cookie Monster, or ‘Kurabiye Canavarı’ as he’s known in Turkish, remains a cherished character in Turkey. Even young children recognize and adore him. This enduring popularity made this project even more special.
